Independence
We are independently owned and managed and we try and maintain impartiality in our publishing. Where we have received payment for publishing an article, it will clearly be labelled ‘sponsored’ or ‘advertisement’. Currently, no other news outlets or politically motivated organisations have a say in what we publish or influence any of our editorial decisions.
Journalistic principles – ethics, standards, and corrections
We endeavour to publish and present news fairly, accurately and objectively – this also applies to any news we curate. For views and individual opinions, however, the content itself can’t, of course, be fair and objective and acceptable to people from all sides of a debate, but we maintain a policy of counterbalancing views where necessary.
We always try to publish news and opinions from respectable and trustworthy sources. This, however, is not always possible – especially with breaking news – and readers should make their own judgements on articles and sources used.
All editorial team members and contributors are required to disclose external activities that may influence their writing, but are not restricted from participating in those activities.
We set and expect the highest standards in terms of writing and content from our journalists and perform periodic sample audits of articles to ensure they adhere to standards we set as publishers.
Corrections will be required from time-to-time and have to go through our internal approval process before articles are updated. All corrected articles will explicitly be labelled as such.
